If A-Net released an expansion that only consisted of an auction house, hairdresser, full hero party option, and name changing... they'd be so rich.

I would rather kill myself than use a fantasy name generator. Or any kind of name generator really. I dont like my characters having "real" names.

K from reading almost all of the posts here, it seems to me, many people regret the names they chose for their characters. Most of you guys regret it either because you didn't pay too much attention to it when you first made it or half way through, the name of the character no longer represents what you had hoped for. So, there is a lot of demand for the change and it seems that its only fair for Anet to listen to their players and give them what they want.
Now, having said that, there should be some restrictions as to when and how they can change their names. I think the idea to have the person only change their name in a limited amount is the right way to go and it will prevent people from abusing it. Much like Anet's policy in changing servers only 5 times, they should do the same for name changing.
Now if they were to take it further, and allow for full customization of your characters (Salon, beauty shop, or what ever you guys want to call it), and allow for changing of face, hair, and etc. Anet will have thousands of happy players. Also, if they chose to, they can make it so that they have to pay for these cosmetic changes.
Back to the name changing portion of this post. Nobody in their right mind would ever name their character "pepsi killer xxx" and keep it. But there are those who did name their characters with silly names and had the guts to keep them, without understanding the full scope of things. Not understanding the consequences of their actions, they are forced to play with their "Pepsi killer xxx" character because "...I invested too much time in to it" or "...I bought the obsidian armor for this character and I"m not gonna change it." After 38 pages of people requesting for the change, I think it is quite evident that there is a large group of people that want this.
Apparently the technology to change the name exists, so hopefully it won't be difficult to incorporate it as a game feature. Even if it is some what difficult, I believe the satisfaction of thousands of people will be worth it in the end.
************************************************** ************************************************** **
On a side note, perhaps Anet hasn't made any changes because they don't think there is a demand for it. If possible, I am requesting for those hardcore or lucky players that get to be in the server when Gaile Grey appears and perhaps mention it to her whenever possible. The more we advertise our concerns and needs for this game, the better chance of change. Thank you.

Or let them know the direct way, if, in all likelyhood, they don't already know.

my opinion is that it would destroy the economy

I would be all for it. Also wouldn't mind if you could change features (lets say Iv made a character and figured out I don't want that hair/face/w.e and prefer a different one)
I think it would even be reasonable for a price. Maybe set it at 10k or so

simple solution to that issue, have a set amount of times you can change your name. The limitation will prevent people from abusing the system. Simple.

I think one name change per character or it would really annoy me, I dunno why but my gut feeling tells me this would be a terrible idea.

Why not make it the way your hero account name is changed - every 30 days?
Meaning: at least 30 days must pass before you can change your character
name again....

Ok its a good idea but:
You need to make it ONLY every week/month and it will cost 5k or so.
So it wont be abused

Or you could've just chosen a name you liked in the beginning instead of picking something moronic?

5k is a drop in the bucket, that just ensures that only people with 5k will abuse it.

Make it a ONE time change. There should be no need to constantly change the name. That's reserved for the pvp chars.
Simply put, if you're not satisfied with your name, you get one chance to change it. That way, you would NEED to put some serious thought into it.
Anything else would just be abused.

It should be simple, at our 2nd birthday we should be allowed to edit our character in any way that we see fit. Name, gender, and appearance.
Minipets is just clutter, give us something useful. I guarantee after two long years everyone would be more interested in altering their characters than getting some minipet.
But since this will probably never happen... I think that we should be able to request a name change, among other character alterations, through the online store. I would certainly pay 5 bucks to do something like that. Paying ingame gold is worthless to Anet, wasn't it stated before that an actual individual has to initiate the name change? Now Anet could pay a guy to do that if they just put a price tag on character alterations.
With a possible one month restriction on changes as well as the fee, there shouldn't be that much abuse of the system.

I think that being able to change your character name would be a great idea to implement. I think that if there is a price to use the feature, it should be low, especially after the farming nerf (perhaps 1k). I don't need yet another money sink, I'm low enough on funds as it is.

I always put A LOT of thought into character's names and I'm still happy with them. This wouldn't do anything for me personally, but I would love to see players realize that their "Xx Sephiroth Xx" name was rediculous and have the chance to rename it.
/signed for a non-abusive name change system.
I'd love to be able to change some of my character's appearances. With hair styles, it would be cool for characters to have access to hair styles from other campaigns. With this, female tyrian monks now all won't have the chun-li from street fighter look (two buns and the ribbon), because we all know how bad the choices were for them. For characters who travel through each continent, it would be normal for them to adopt a new look, since they already do that with armor. I would also love to be able to turn my canthan warrior into a tyrian, but I know that would be pushing it.
/signed for stylist NPC.
